Marine Data Solutions and the Bahamas National Trust

The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park- the first Land and Sea Park in the world

Yacht Internet needs two fast and reliable components- uploads and downloads. Downloads deliver up-to-date email and the latest presentation of our favorite streaming show, playoff game, or playlist. But Internet goes up as well- we send email, transfer photos and files, and share clips and memes with our family and friends.  Marine Data Solutions, the premier provider of yacht Internet in the Continental USA, the Bahamas, Europe, and now the Caribbean, downloads the service you need to stay connected on board and uploads to the yachting and Bahamas community with strong financial support for the Bahamas National Trust.

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world, and Marine Data Solutions principal Michael Robilio met with two representatives of the Bahamas National Trust , the non-profit chartered by the Government of the Bahamas to manage, preserve, and protect the country’s national parks. Eric Carey, Executive Director (@EricBahamas), and Joseph Ierna, Administrator of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, joined Mr. Robilio to accept a check representing 5% of Marine Data Solutions Bahamas airtime revenue.

The Bahamas, whose Dorian-devastated northern islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco remain in great need, stretches over thousands of miles with more than 700 islands beckoning visitors. The Bahamas National Trust remains engaged in vital projects including the Equinor cleanup, the onshore oil spill at South Riding Point, Grand Bahama, where an estimated 119,000 barrels of oil spilled into the fragile coastal environment. Each contribution to the Trust helps fund critical restoration and preservation activities throughout the Bahamas, with the most well-known the magnificent Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, the world’s first protected area of its kind.

“Dorian magnified the needs of, and for, the Bahamas National Trust”, Mr. Robilio said. “Enormous resources have gone into cleanup and restoration, and this catastrophe reinforces how badly we need non-profits like the Trust to remain healthy and vibrant. The cleanup will end, but the mission continues- protecting some of the most beautiful areas on the planet for the future. We supply a service that helps share the images and experiences our yachting customers thrill to, and we will continue to sustain the Trust through our Bahamas airtime revenue.”
